Building a Basic JSON Server in Haskell

Functional programming is becoming more and more popular. There are many languages out in the programming market space who either allow for functional programming or are functional languages. However, there is one that really stands out completely from the rest: Haskell. Often times the argument is that Haskell is not practical or is only useful for learning purposes. That is simply not true. Many big companies are using Haskell in production to help their business needs get met on a day to day basis. For example, Facebook uses it to filter out spam messages and Target uses it for their data science. In this talk we will walk through building a simple JSON api server in Haskell. This talk will focus mostly on the practical side of Haskell and attempt to show Haskell's tooling and elegance. If you have messed around with Haskell before and started wondering, "How do I actually build something" this talk will help show the next steps in you Haskell learning.
